I recently downloaded a software package I wanted to evaluate (Internet monitoring). After unzipping , and agreeing to the EULA, I went to install the software but during the install I got the following error message:

"An error occurred while trying to rename a file in the destination directory: Movefile Failed; Code 2. The system cannot find the file specified"

I tried a different PC and got the same error. Also redownloaded....still no change.

PLease help. And thanks in advance.

Obviously a bad download (corrupted file) or an actual bad file on their server or buggy software. Contact the manufacturer.

Did you try installing whilst running anti-virus or anti-spyware software?

If so then one of these may have automatically deleted one or more files from the installation, hence the error "...The system cannot find the file specified".

There's a warning to this effect in the installer's readme.txt file and a suggestion to contact register@track4win.com if you are having an installation problem.

Hope this helps...

^^^^ Good call. That's a definite possibility. I used to see antivirus software that would remove the Novell server executable (server.exe) from a service pack when unpacking from a self-extracting file. They started warning to turn off AV when unpacking/installing the service pack to avoid the issue.
