In a previous job, we used software from a company who went out of business. My boss wanted me to make a copy of the software to provide to another company, similar to ours.
I tried to contact the company who created the software, and found out that they had gone out of business years ago, and nobody was interested in picking up the product. There was no way to contact even the previous owners or programmers, and there were no similar products on the market.
My dilemna: There was no way to get that software with a license. However, the software provided excellent functionality, and we were using it for years.
Would you give the other company a copy?
Just curious.
