This is a follow up to thread936-494168 regarding programming Panasonic systems via a laptop. I normally program Nortel products but have a customer that has a Panasonic system that needs editing which can't be done via telset admin. I need to clarify a few things. I am interested in buying a new laptop with Windows 7 (which I heard does not have Hyperterminal) so I am at a loss where to start.

Which laptop computer operarting system do I need?

Should I use hyperterminal or some specific software from Panasonic (I have manuals so is there some software to access via CD manuals?)

Is there a tek faq that offers simplified instructions for connecting to the system via laptop/software?

daveybc,

What Panasonic system are you trying to program? If a KXTD, KXTDA, KXTDE, or NCP, you need to be a certified dealer to have access to the software.

Are you certified?

non of the panasonic other than the 11d 336 and original
td use terminal emulation for programing by layman .
win7 runs the latest just fine but there are no drivers as of yet for the tva for vista or 7.

Can I suggest if you insist on using win 7 in the field you get a panasonic tough book that has a onboard seial port
and you may want to run virtual machine in xp mode for legacy stuff.
