I have a P4 3.0 800fsb. My main apps are Photoshop CS and Office XP. Do any of these take advantage of hyper threading? Does anyone have a list of software that currently utilizes HT technology?
As a workstation, you fundmentally allow the OS to define the use of processors, and task priority.
Its not that it cannot be fiddled, but it deliberatly is not made an easy user configuration item.
In the main, if the OS recognizes HT, the install uses the right Hal.dll, there is little you really need to fiddle.
Intel offers some comparisons of Office with and without HT enabled as one example. I do not recall Photoshop specificly, but Adobe is often used in some examples by Intel. See:
