Hey all,
Ok im fairly new to SMS and it has been recommended to me by many people as a favourable solution to deploy software to our single domain system.

All of our installs need to be silent and mandatory for the computers as they are in LABs and are required to be set up identically.

Okay no problems so far. However, we currently use active directory GPOs to deploy the software in .msi format.

Basically i am having real trouble getting software to deploy through SMS and everything i read seems to hint that i still need to repackage all of my software (which really doesnt benefit me over the active directory deployment) and the only .msi file i have tried with a .mst file to supply the options seems to do nothing when i create the package/programs/advertisments.

Can anyone write a very fast getting started section for deploying msi files or files using the command line, or maybe point me to a tutorial that has already been written or a website?

Thanks in advance

Ash

Really, you dont need to re-wrap an msi file, you just add switches and/or transforms.

Go through different apps and you will find a lot of helpful stuff on that site.

make sure you declare the package source folder and have the MST in the root of the source folder along with the MSI it's self, then declare the commandline for processing the MSI with the MST in the program decleration.

AddDeploy.com is very helpfull

Hope this Helps.

Thanks alot guys ill have a look at the site. I think my problem might have been that my MSI isnt in the root of the source folder so ill try that first.
