SoftRemote VPN client and Microsoft VPN server

Has anyone actually successfully SoftRemote VPN client (v8 or v9) to access a Microsoft VPN server (Windows 2000) with certificates ?

I am unable to do so using SoftRemote on a Windows 2000 Professional client that has a machine certificate issued by Microsoft Certification Authority. The certificate works fine when using the Microsoft VPN client but SoftRemote complains there is no private key associated with the machine certificate.
