What are the regulations concerning this setup?

I've read as long as it is extension to extension.. no issues. But if I enable toll bypass (hop on US PSTN)it is illegal. Is this true?

You need to get AGC to work with TATA and the Ministry of Telecommunications in India. AGC/TATA will sign off on your PBX to ensure it is logically seperated between IP&PSTN. Once that's done, they provide a copy to you and the Ministry...

If violated - there is a 'stiff' penalty, in the area of Rs. 25,000 a day.

This is a sample of the Indemnity Bond for LL - Logical Partitioning Permission.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED to be collected from the customer and submitted to NETWORK TEAM FOR obtaining LOGICAL PARTITIONING PERMISSION

1. Undertaking from the Customer

i. Undertaking to be on minimum 300 Rs. Stamp Paper or franking to be done for minimum 300 Rs.
ii. Full address of the Company and the location where the EPABX is installed
iii. Date to be mentioned on the Undertaking (Date of Undertaking should not be a date before Franking or Stamp Paper)
iv. To be signed on all pages by the Authorized Signatory of the Customer with Company Stamp on all signs.
v. Copy of Letter of Authority or Power of Attorney of the Signatory of the Customer
vi. Signature of Authorized Tata representative in Witness part with Name and designation clearly mentioned on it.

2. Test Report

i. Date of Test Report should not be a date before the date of Undertaking of the Customer
ii. Address mentioned on the Test Report should be the same as that of the address mentioned on the Undertaking.

This Undertaking and Test Report in Original to be submitted or couriered to Network Team

Logical Partitioning Permission letter will not be issued based on the Scanned copy of the documents sent to Network team. Only on receipt of the physical Original documents, the permission letter will be issued. These documents are invalid for the issue of permission beyond 3 months.

Process:
Firstly, undertaking which is complete in all respects is to be issued by the Customer. Later, Testing is to be carried out by TTML. Logical Partitioning Permission Letter would be issued after the physical receipt of all the documents with Network team.

Address of the sales person of Tata and the contact number should be sent/mailed to Network team along with the documents so that the permission letter in original can be sent back. If this is not available, letter would not be issued.

It is advised all the above set of documents are sent in a single shot and not one after another.

Hope this helps... basically it's just a way for them to make a little extra $$$. There is a company in India that will do all the leg work for you, for a small amount of Rs...
