Adding the first softphone to a V7 system with 5 Power User lics. Followed softphone_install_en.pdf but get an "Unknown error" at the client then trying to connect. In System Status, I get an alarm under Configuration>Service each time I try that says "User logon failed due to incorrect login code. Number: *1111"

Now 1111 is indeed what I used for the login code for the user and I found that if I change the code on the user it will follow suit in the errors text, but always with that * in front of it.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

I believe that it (stupidly) requires a login code to be set in the users supervisor settings to work, but it actually checks the password on the user tab where the name is set etc :)

Yes, it does require that to be set and that's what I'm referencing. Whatever code I put in there is what shows in the error report. The behavior is the same no matter if the user password matches it or not.

Bumping with hopes of more suggestions as this is still ongoing issue. Could it be a bug in IPO version, I'm running 7.0 (23).

Thanks

Which install of Softphone do you have and do you have Automatic Windows update may be causing the problem. Try repairing the install and if the system pops up with an 1249 (I believe) Windows Insaller error, then you may have to download and install the latest version.

If you have the latest revision, and recently did a windows update, perform a rollback and see if that resolved the issue.

Baddies,

Thanks for the suggestions, but I do not believe this is a problem on the PC side. If I change the username or password on the Softphone client, I get invalid user errors as I would expect. When I put in the correct credentials, I get the "unknown error" with the corresponding error in System Status as documented above.

My apologies, that was Phone Manager Pro I was referring to. Wasn't sure if that is the same situation, as Windows Update does cause problems with Avaya software (seen it affect VMPro as well).

Update.... an upgrade to 7.0.36 did not fix this issue so I am stumped.
