Hi,

Scenario - have a softphone extension 7076, have a deskphone 1076. If I make a call from my softphone and someone phones my deskphone it still rings.
These two are 'connected' surely the deskphone shouldn't ring. the other way around works as desired. on my deskphone, someone phones my softphone - softphone is busy....

any ideas. did I miss any programming.
info:running UC Advanced with 3300 on release 9 ur2
have programmed button for deskphone on softphone as key systems (did key system instead of mulitcall cause of mobile extension)

I haven't checked with the UC softphone but YA used to call fwd the deskphone to the softphone when the softphone booted up. So, I'm not really suprised...

You can't believe anything you read... unless of course it's this.

that was the old way. the new way is to forward the softphone to the deskphone when it's shutdown.

trying to figure out if my issue is design or an oversight (bug)

If I remember correctly from my YA training, the currently recommended way of programming a YA softphone is to use a Multicall key. That does mean that if your softphone is in use, your softphone will also ring. I only remember this becuase this "fix" from Mitel breaks one of the features of Mobility.
Check the programming of your softphone. If it's programmed as a Multicall key then that would explain why both ring.

only button programmed is key system of the deskphone on the softphone, so you can answer the deskphone on the softphone should it ring.

Just read the user guide and it states that the softphone should have a multicall app of the desk phone.
That makes me think that a busy is not an option without both primary and multi engaged.
In your case, what happens when you use the key line on the softphone to make a call?

thanks for the replies, I think my intial post may not have been clear.

Softphone 7076 deskphone 1076.
deskphone published number, softphone hidden.
softphone 7076 has a keysystem (instead of multicall due to mobile extension) of 1076 - if deskphone rings softphone can answer.

problem:
when making a call from softphone 7076 an incoming call to 1076 still rings. logically this makes sense because if you're on one phone and someone dials another it should ring. is this by design or a design oversight? one person has two devices that really should only be one in theory.

In this case the softphone and hardphone should be 'tied' together, if one is busy then so should the other IMHO.

Unfortunantly this is how it works.
Something I haven't tried is to tie the two together via Suite Services. It would be interesting to know if that fixed it.

Alternantly, as a work around, you can forward your desk phone manually to your softphone. If your at your desk use the "follow me" code. If you're already on your softphone user your "I am here" code. This will force all calls to your softphone and stop second calls from coming in. (assuming that is what you want)

UncleRalph,

your method unfortunately is like throwing out the baby with the bathwater.

if I call forward the deskphone always it means that I won't have the option to answer on the deskphone if I feel like it or because I haven't fired up UC yet.

Lots of little workarounds but these workarounds all have the caveats/shortfalls.

thanks anyway

You're right.
Nothing really good here.
Series X would allow you to ring your deskphone, softphone and cell phone and more but I'd have to believe you're not there yet.
Sorry. Don't see a good fix here either unless Suite Services worked.
