Ok, here is the thing, we have a contractor here at the office and his company just started using the Cisco phones. So a quick story, he is the first to try out their IP Communicator. Since we also have the cisco set up here I was helping him get it set up on his side. He is connecting back to his company via VPN and we can ping his call managers and establish a phone call. But the problem is that the other party can not hear him. He is able to hear the other party crystal clear.

Already checked and he is using g729 for the codec and he is set to the optimal settings on the IPComm. Any ideas on where to go from here?

Also, checked his firewall and it is disabled currently.

This is usually a routing issue. The voice path has a known route to get there but there is no route back to the CIPC so the voice packets get dropped. They need to add a route back to the CIPC phones.

It could also be your firewall blocking that traffic inbound but I would start with your contractors network first.

Agreed this is a routing issue. verify you router settings and work from there...
