A customer of ours saw somebody doing a demo of the operator softconsole and he called me asking for a demo license all exited about all the features on the new release. He told me he was interested on a feature that he saw which is the ability to view/see detailed call information from any user on the system, what I understood is that from the receptionist softconsole some how you can click on any active user on a call and the system will display the same type of information as when it is receiving an incoming call. I told the customer that it not possible that the only way you can do this is with SSA but he insisted so much so that I fired up my softconsole and tried to replicate the feature unsucessfully. I then thought maybe there is a new release of softconsole already out and I went over to the avaya downloads for 8.X but there it nothing there, am I missing something?

You mean the right top field?
Right click on the user and select properties.
That is all i can think of.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

tlpeter, I believe with that you just get information about the user but not about the active call, according to him it seems there is a way you can get the active call screen to come alive with detailed call information form a any user on a call with just a click of the button something like what you see when you are in SSA. [surprise]

Won't happen.
I think he has seen something else.

Do you mean the "extended" BLF information?

If you start softconsole with the -oncall command line option, you can see who is on teh phone to who.

You achieve this by floating the mouse over the BLF icon and then the tooltip shows who is the other party in the call.

Take Care

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

My assumption is that softconsole doesn't by default. It is so long since I used PM that I simply don't remember!

I don't' know, I was sure he was talking about System Status or Call Status but he told me it was Soft Console.
I have not had time to play with Soft Console with the suggestions made here but I will and I will go to the customer to show it to him to see if this is what he saw then I will let you all know.

Thanks,

You can on the DSS buttons if you activate "DSS Status"
It might work if you have ticked the option and look in the BLF part of the SoftConsole. But never tried so it might not work, and it's a systemwide option.

System > Telephony > Telephony > tick DSS Status: Default = Off
This setting affects Avaya display phones with programmable buttons. It controls whether pressing a DSS key set to another user who has a call ringing will display details of the caller. When off, no caller information is displayed.
