Softconsole 16 bit high colour error message

a user has reported an error message when they start softconsole, it say that they need to set the graphics card/screen to 16 bit high colour to run the application but the screen is set 16 bit high colour. This has only started since the pc had a windows update/restart. We have changed the screen settings and rebooted, reinstalled softconsole but still having issues. Has anyone come across this issue before?
