Soft and hard phone

Hi all,

I'm looking for a way to allow a few users to take their DN on the road with them. These users have a desk phone (1140E) that they use while in the office. It would be awesome to allow the sales guys to be able to use the i2050 soft phones on their laptop using the same DN as they do in the office.

Is this possible?

Can't use the same DN on a BCM, but you can put an answer DN on their softphone extension. When someone calls their desk phone, the softphone will ring. You might also be able to use the hot desking feature to bring their DN from the 1140 to the 2050. I haven't tried hotdesking from a 1140 to a 2050 on the BCM, but it should work OK.

Also in there VM add the soft phone extention as an alt.ext.

Awesome, thank you both of you. I ended up using another extension with an answer DN on it.

Cook...what do people use the alternate extensions for usually?

alt DN in vmail is used if 2 DNs want to share one mailbox. When msgs r left the MW light gets lit at both phones.

Use the IP Hot Desking to accomplish this task.

User will need to setup the password while at their normal desk, then will use this password when hot-desking to the remote set. The user's DN, voicemail, etc will forward properly.
