HI Guys,

Maybe someboday here is aware where to find the Information.

I have an apilcation that reports the follwoing error.

"sock_connect to host 'host' on port 5001 failed (79)."

Knows anybody a website with the AIX Socket Error Codes?

I have searched but was unable to find this information.

Thanks in advance.

Sincerely your Hooker ;)

hi ,

try having a look at /usr/include/sys/sockets.h
see if your error i slisted in here.

One other thing , do you have something listening on port 5001 on your server , check netstat -an | grep 5001
does it say listening , if not then I believe yoy have to have something i.e. a program running on this port , then you can make a connection.

You can also use the tool lsof ( shareware, can download it from bull web site , here you can check what programs / processes have ports open .

Thanks DSMARWAY :)

I have found the file, but it is not socket.h, I have found
the information in errno.h

In it there are all the error codes for sockets.

79 means, what you said and what I thought, "Connection is refused"

Unfortunately I have no access to the opposite side and can not run netstat.

I think the deamon is probably stopped, waiting for the Admin :)

Anyhow thanks for help.
