I would try some kind of banner across the top using a photograph. Maybe just take out the front page or use the banner there also. It looks like two websites instead of one since there are two logos to click on.

 
Have a look at what happens to your page at reduced screen size.
IMO blue suggests water and ice, not good for football.
I would suggest think soccer, think playing fields, think green, goal posts, football shirts, referees, corner flags.

I don't know if you've done this yet, but your page wraps horribly. A way of getting around this is by specifying widths on your HTML block level elements.

I've designed the site to work in 800x600 and 1024X768 resolution by using % on most elements. On my monitor it looks OK in both and is passable on a wide screen monitor as well. Thanks for your interest and comments.

I'm sorry I meant a resizing of the window, not a reduced screen size. This might not be of any importance to you, but I thought I'd just point it out.
