Socail field in table displays wrong

Ok people heres me problem..I have a socail field that is based on "text". I also have a import feature that works great that imports information into my tables from an excel worksheet. My problem is..awhile back when the user imported instead of putting the social field to text in the excel sheet it was put on general. it imported fine but now socails are displayed wrong...IE it will display like this

a social of 004-56-7564
will display like 456-75-64__

a socail of 000-00-4546
will display lke 454-6_-____

there are way to many to fix manually and i was thinking if anyone else has stumbled on this same problem and came up with an update query to fix it?

It sounds like you're using an input mask. I'd get rid of that and use the format property. Set it to @@@-@@-@@@@.
