I have a 403(PRI) and SO8 module. The customer has a fax server with a ISDN2 PCI card which is plugged into the first porto of the SO8 Module. At the moment DDIs are set to go to the users extension. Is it possible to send the same DDIs to the first
port of the SO8, example somebody calls a ddi and extension answers. somebody sends a fax to the same DDI and it gets passed to the to the fax server. If the answer is yes would the programming be as follows:

Incoming Call routes
2 Entries

Line Group-0
Incoming Number-123456
Destination-Extn201
Bearer Capability-Any voice

Incoming Call route
Line Group-0
Incoming Number-123456
Destination-123456
Bearer Capability-Any

Short Codes

Short Code-123456
Telephone Number-123456
Feature-Dial
Line group-701

question will the system detect if its a voice or fax and send it accordingly.

Thanks in advance.

I can't answer the first parts but I can answer the very last question - currently the IP Office can't distinguish a fax call from normal voice calls. The Voicemail Pro can but that's a expensive solution if you don't already have one to hand.

The incomming call route can be used to detect diferent types of aclls & route them to diferent destinations for the same DDI.

call types that can be detected are:
Any Voice (speach or 3k1)
Speach
3K1
Any Data
Data 65k
Data 56K
Data V110
Data V120
Video

Unfortunatly except for group 4 fax, all fax calls are speach so you will not be able to re-route fax calls in this way

raknas,

for the system to know what kind of call it is, it should listen to the voice path. the ip office unit itself cannot do this, it has too few tone detector ports. but it can be done using voice mail pro, which in turn can divert the call to the fax server or receive the fax message itself. note that ipguru is right, there is a group 4 fax (isdn), and calls of this type can be routed on isdn level. but group 4 faxes are not common, so if you really want to detect fax calls, you should use vmpro.

If you have an SO8 Module it will show up under you line tab in the manager program i have had a lot of troble with these in the past

They are labled usally 701 - 708 or 801-808

You need to do 3 things to get the S08 to work

LINE
Under line change incoming and outgoing lines from 0 to 701
if you isdn card has more than 1 port chnage line 702 and 703 to 701 as stated above so that you double your bandwidth from 128 per port etc

Short Code

Create a short code with a line GROUP OF 701 and the number the same as the ddi for the fax

Incoming call route

destaination pointing at 701
