umm,
can somebody shed a light on this issue for me?
or marketing director had forwarded this tom me.
here's an email:
"Hi,

Just a note to let you know that you have a great real estate related website.

Therefore, I had created a link to your website under :
as Nimlok Display and Exhibit Solutions Worldwide

Reals.com has over 20,000 unique vistors per day, as well as being links with over 5000 other websites and over 76,000
total links from major search engines.

Please kindly return the favor by creating a link back to us. For linking options please visit Let me know if you would like to be added to any additional section.

i have some thoughts and a ton of questons:
ok - our company designs and manufactures trade show displays, but who would be looking for us on a real estate web site??? that seems to be the biggest question i am asking myself.
right now they have a link to us on that page, but i guess it will be removed if we do not reply or reply saying that we would not like to participate. there are also links to our major competitors' sites as well on that page right now. of course, those links might be on that page at the same status as our - i.e. i am not sure if our competitors decided to participate in this thing or if their links will eventually disappear fom that page.
also, since our web site has nothing to do with real estate, where are we supposed to stick a link to them anyway?
when i searched google for "real estate", they did not come up on the first 15 pages of teh results (i ddi not go any further). when searched on "real estate directory", they come up as #3, which i guess is pretty good.
could you guys give me the feedback on this? is it really worth doing? --------------------------------------------------

Hi valeriav,

Personally, I would simply ignore the e-mail, they are trying to boost their link popularity by linking to any and all types of site.

If everyone on that page linked to them, then engines like google would think that their site was a lot more popular, that is the reason they are doing this.

As for a return for your company, I can't see many. There are too many links on that page to actually send you any traffic. A link on your site to theirs would look totally out of place.

I visited your site and I'm impressed, nice work. I might just call one of your sales reps in the future for a chat. [smile]

Hope this helps Wullie

wullie,
i am flattered *blushing*
thanks a lot!
we've had this site design up for about 2 years. will be starting to think of a new and improved design soon.
the current site is totally se-unfriendly, though, so in the meanwhile i am also working on optimising the current site for se's (the copy of that is still on my HD).

as for the email - that is pretyy much what we did. after reading some more about se's i realised exactly the things you said (errr, wrote *lol*), so we just ignored it.

Thanks!

p.s. LOVE your signature! --------------------------------------------------
