Hey all,
Re post Hot Line External Rls 18xx. I connected the Algo 3008 to the 500 station port, programmed FTR HOT D 16 <outdial number> it connected perfectly and then...
Found that unless the algo was on time out supervision it wouldn't hang up... and if the called party, either external or internal, hung up, a reorder tone was sent to the doorphone (loud, anoying, unproffesional etc).
So have the following questions:
Can the reorder tone be shut off for a 500 set?
Can a 500 station port be disconnected by the switch when the trunk disconnects.. similar to a 2616 set?
And can the Algo be set up to supervise a disconnect situation without the timer?

Anyone with ideas would be eagerly read.

we are having the exact same trouble with an Allentel GBN-555 elevator emergency phone right now. after the call disconnects (the 555 has a 2 minute timeout) the annoying tone keeps coming back thru the speaker on the phone.

If your getting a reorder tone on the phone, than the phone is not really hung-up it is still off hook.

We contacted the vendor of our set and he told me to solder in a 620 ohm 1 watt resistor on the tip side going into the set? he thinks there is too much voltage coming in and it wont disconnect?????

jdoebling,
Crap. These things need some kind of tip/ring reversal - return dial tone sense or some other way of detecting a hang up situation. Off hook voltage doesn't change when a far end hangs up.
For my part I don't care if all I have to do is diable the reorder tone system wide... but gawd this is annoying.

i just tried the resistor in the tip line as the vendor said. IT WORKED. We had to wait until the timeout for d/c from the set, but it hung up, just like it was supposed to. If your set does not have a built in timeout before disconnect, this may not be your issue, but it worked here. Good Luck. and no crap!

jdoebling,
Mine does time out and disconnect, but it stays off hook until that time squawking the reorder tone to all within hearing range of the door phone. That is my issue.

Here's a thought. Can you hook it to a DID cart? You won't get dialtone, but you can dial. Plus, its sensitive to DS.

Hope this helps...

Forgive me. I was thinking of a Norstar. But, the same theory applies. Attach the Door Phone to a Universal trunk Card and program that trunk as an analog DID.

That should work.

The other way to go is blow the money on an OPX card. But, I think the DID will work perfectly for you.

Sorry for the confusion.

Hope this helps more...

Kris,
Thanks for the suggestion. I'll look at the DID option. I have already hooked it up to a loop start trunk but the tear down time for the call was quite large so tried the 500 set type instead. A further disadvantage of the trunk type door phone is that you can't hang up and redial when button pushed until hang up occurrs. You can do this with the 500 type.
Thanks.

All,
Couldn't really get the thing going with a DID config. Set it up to auto dial an ACD DN night call fwd to the target number. ANY regular number works fine, disconnect occurrs right away.. but the real target number is a DID and it is the far end DID that is not disconnecting or seems to send disconnect signaling.
Ideas?

Item,
Out route is through a GRD trunk to DID. ??
