on aix 5.3 the snmpd binary is a link to the v3 snmpd agent: lrwxrwxrwx 1 root system 9 May 19 2005 /usr/sbin/snmpd -> snmpdv3ne
When I make a change in /etc/snmpd.conf like changing the syslocation and after stopping/starting the snmpd daemon under the SRC I get the new syslocation after requesting the corresponding OID with the command snmpinfo -m get -c public -h hostname 1.3.6.1.2.1.1.6.0 .
Conclusion : The version 3 of the snmpd agent reads the old snmpd.conf file.
Now what's about the /etc/snmpdv3.conf which has a completely other syntax ? must I do a rename of this file to snmpd.conf ?
I am trying to monitor my AIX Box with the OPManager software and with the out-of-the-box AIX 5.3 SNMP environment like snmpd, snmpmibd, hostmibd, aixmibd.
But I get no CPU,Disk utilization etc
Everyone already using another third party monitoring tool with the standard AIX SNMP environment ?
