How do I set up my Cisco 1605's and my 3640 so that monitoring software can detect SNMP settings. And are they public/private R/W etc. What do I need to do?

Hi, first you will have log on to the router the enter 'enable' mode then 'conf t' and type the following:

snmp-server community public RO

snmp-server community private RW

Where public and private are the Read-Only and Read-Write community strings, although you should choose your own SNMP community strings as there is little or no security using default values.
