Hi Forum,

I have a question around SNMP trap details. I am currently receiving snmp traps on my management server. The trap contains the following values:

ifIndex
ifDescr(this is set to Serial0 for this particular trap)
ifType
locIfReason

I would like to know if it is possible for Cisco routers to send the mib value for the description that is entered by the person who configures the router. So if set the interface description to "my link to interner provider" then I want this to appear in the trap..this is not the same as ifDescr.

The description I am talking about is stored in one of the following oid's:

iso(1). org(3). dod(6). internet(1). mgmt(2). mib-2(1). ifMIB(31). ifMIBObjects(1). ifXTable(1). ifXEntry(1). ifAlias(18) = for mib2
-- iso(1). org(3). dod(6). internet(1). private(4). enterprises(1). cisco(9). local(2). linterfaces(2). lifTable(1). lifEntry(1).locIfDescr(28) = for cisco devices

Any help is greatly appreciated

Regards
Pritesh
