Is there a way to turn off the SNMP traffic on the Accelar? If so is it advisable?

no snmp would prevent Optivity Switch manager or Optivity Network Management System from displaying info about the Accelar and may disable Device Manager as well. (not sure)

In Device manager you could use EDIT SECURITY ACCESS POLICY and uncheck SNMP, and the switch would be isolated

I would not expect it to speed up any traffic (on mine 118 thousand packets out of 818 million) or reduce CPU utilizaation, so the only reason to disable it would be if you thought SNMP was inherently insecure.
