SNMP question

Hello all,
I am very new to SNMP and I am looking for either a good intro book (not for engineers) or a good web site to look at to get a good grasp of SNMP and how to use it. I have been tasked with implimenting SNMP for monitoring purposes and I am completely confused on what this whole thing is all about. I think that once I get a good grasp on the basics then finding other info will be much easier, but I just need a good start.

SNMP on it's own doesn't do anything - your management suite is what does the intelligent stuff.
