SNMP and Port Forwarding

Hi,

I'm looking at SNMP to port forward. This should be a straight forward task for a particular router (e.g. cisco).
However ... There are many many different routers! It seems a rather massive project to attempt to support them all
or, even the most popular!! Am I missing something obvious??
