SNMP and MAC Address DataBase 1

Hi everybody !!!


I want to obtain the MAC address of the devices that are directly attached to my switch via SNMP. What leaf of the SNMP tree i need to consult?

Hi!

In answering another thread, I remembered Tobi's cammer program. It will give you the MAC, IP address, and DNS name of devices hooked to a Cisco switch.

It's way cool!

But one question. It use CDP? is valid for switches not cisco?

Sikaris,

CDP is available on Cisco switches. It is used to discover and talk to other Cisco devices. CDP has no provisions for MAC table reporting.

cammer uses SNMP queries.
