Hi everyone. I am working on a network that by afternoon every day is so slow it isnt worth logging in. The web connectivity falls off to completely useless. It can take 4 or 5 tries to get connected to the web. checked w/ the outside company that supplies the web and naturally they say its not them. I downloaded with intent to purchase a sniffer tool and it is telling me inforamation I am not sure how to use to correct my issue. The report tells me mynetwork is running an average of 35 kbits/s?? didnt know if this is a big deal but the chart only goes to 40. also theres really no peak, the average stays at 30-40kbits/s. What can I do to see why this is? slow network response and no web every afternoon is getting pretty old. this is a 1 year old 2003 server environment. any help or suggestions would be greatly appreicated.

This is probably not the right forum for this. However, to troubleshoot:

1. Try disconnecting your entire network (hey, it doesn't work anyway, right?) and connect ONLY your PC to the internet gateway. If it's still slow, then you most likely have ISP issues or gateway issues. If it's fast, then you have an issue inside your network and your ISP is correct.
2. If it was slow after step 1, run your sniffer on the network for a while and send a copy of the report to the ISP for their input. If the issue is in your LAN, then run your sniffer in the LAN and see where the traffic is coming from. You could have a virus on one or more machines that is killing your LAN.
3. Try the Networking Forum for more advice.
