I've a problem in my LAN, sometimes freezing sessions to the SQL-server.

SQL uses TCP-port 1433.

I would like to make a "filter" in Sniffer Pro that sniffes only SQL sessions and the eventually cause of the problem ( boradcast's, icmp timeout's etc.).

Can somebodyhelp me?

Can you do a port monitor on the switchport that connects to the sql server? Do that and capture all traffic to/from the server.

To capture a specific port with sniffer.
Set up a new capture Profile.
Capture > Define Filter > Profiles > New and name the profile.
Click the address tab and select ip and put "any" in the source and destination.
Now click the address tab and type the port your want.

Ok thank you.

It's a 3COM switch an i think ,"port montitoring" is possible.

What i've to do with the buffer size in Sniffer Pro? I don't want to lose packets during a Sniffer day.

Experiment with the buffer. Or, depending on the info you need to capture, Change the packet size on the buffer tab.
