Sniffer not detecting Intel Pro/100 VE NIC...

Hey Everyone!

It's been a while since I've used it but I'm having trouble getting Sniffer 4.5 running.

I'm using the Intel Pro/100 VE NIC built into my laptop in promiscuous mode but for some reason, it's not detecting the NIC. It's just taking me to the screen that says: "Sniffer failed to open the selected adapter"

I'm sure that it's not because of any of the possibilities listed and I've been trying to get through to Network Associates but they're a pain to get through to and hear back from.

I spoke to a collegue and he said that it could be the drivers and that he had a similar problem and he installed the Sniffer verified drivers for it (unfortunately for me, he has a Xircom NIC).

Does anyone know where I might be able to download the Intel Pro/100 VE drivers for this from? I'd really appreciate some help! Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately, Sniffer Portable 4.5 does not provide enhanced drivers for the Intel Pro/100 cards. Support for the Intel Pro/100 chipset was added in Sniffer Portable 4.7 and higher.

Although many NDIS 3.0 drivers will work with Sniffer Portable, there are no guarantees of 100% compatibility. You may also want to try upgrading the non-Sniffer Intel drivers to see if that helps.

Ideally, you should consider upgrading to Sniffer Portable 4.7 or higher, and use the Sniffer enhanced drivers for the Intel card.

After installing Sniffer Portable, all available drivers are located at:

\Program Files\NAI\SnifferNT\driver
I've used the Intel enhanced drivers, and they work quite well!
