snapping layer to same horizontal position on guide

I have a layer that I duplicated and now want to move that new layer to the exact same horizontal position on the canvas as the original layer. I created a horizontal guide that is in the correct position and I have snap to guide checked put the layer does not snap to the guide when I attempt to move it. Any help would be appreciated. I have Macromedia Fireworks MX.
