Snap in problem

I just installed win 2003 standard ed. on my server I promoted the server as additional DC and now when I tried to open event viewer it gives me an error

snap-in failed to initialize
name: event viewer
clsid:{97579fc-4e2a-11d0-b702-00c04fd8dbf7}

when I open DNS same problem with the event viewer. Help

We had a similar issue, not sure if it is exactly the same. Go to C:\Windows\System32 and see if there is a file in there called mmc.exe.config. Rename it to something else. Then try the snap in again.

My problem is already solved and just for the record I installed service pack and restarted the server and that made the trick.
