Several (not all) of my MMC snap-ins are failing to load.

So far it's only these two:
Computer Management
Component Services

When trying to access them I receive the following error:
----------
Snap-in failed to initialize.
Name:Computer Management
CLSID:{...}
----------

The MMC will then load displaying this in place of the snap-in:
----------
Snap-in Creation Failed.
The snap-in is not created, it may not be installed properly.
Name:Computer Management
CLSID:{...}
----------

I am going to try and figure out how to 'reinstall' it. Possibly through add/remove windows components.

Any other suggestions?

I had to reinstall Windows to correct the issue when I had that issue..

Make sure the following files exist in your system folder (probably C:\Windows\system32). Then, make sure they are all registered.

certmgr.dll
filemgmt.dll
mycomput.dll

I'm certain this will work, since I walked over to your computer (after you left) and did this myself. [bigsmile]

Thanks to linney for making me realize (with the second link) that snap-ins need to be registered. I looked up the class id in the registry for the snap-in in question, did a google search, which resulted in a similar page but mentions all 3 dll's.

Oh, thanks George, but Linney gets the star since he didnt use an annoying emoticon. [bigsmile]

Just kidding, you can have one too...
