SMTP_E_TCPSOCKET_SEND error in CE9

Since upgrading from CE8.5 to CE9 I've starting receiving the following error message when emailing reports (excel and word) to end users. The error is smtp_e_tcpsocket_send(3) error. I don't always get the error and when I do, I'm able to rerun the report without making any changes and the report runs and is emailed succesfully. The file might run fine for a week and then one day error out. The file sizes of the files vary so I don't think it is related to that. Has anyone else seen this problem. Thank you.

Even though the file sizes vary, they may still be larger than the limit allowed by your SMTP Server, which will cause the failure. I'd double-check, just to be sure.

I checked with our systems team and it is not the file size. The files I'm sending are only 10-20K in most instances. Plus, the same report will run fine one time then error out another time. There doesn't appear to be any pattern.
