SMTP_E_TCPSOCKET_SEND(3)????

Hi,
Some of the scheduled reports that are set to go as a hyperlink in email using SMTP failed with this error today,

server error.CrystalEnterprise.SMTP:
SMTP_E_TCPSOCKET_SEND(3)

We are using crystal enterprise 9.0, SQL server database.
Does anyone have a clue about what this would mean?

write error. CrystalEnterprise.Smtp: SMTP_E_TCPSOCKET_SEND(3)

This error message is caused by the file being larger than what is allowed by your SMTP server. Check the limit on your server. IIS has a default of 2MB, I believe. I bumped my limit to 5KB, which resolved the issue for me.

This issue is also especially common with Word or RTF exports because the file size is significantly larger than other exports. One of my test files weighed in at 1.74Mb in both Word and RTF format, whereas the same report was only 440Kb in Acrobat and 220Kb in Excel.

Did changing your smtp settings solve your issue? I'm having the same error message, but the file sizes of our reports are very small so it doesn't appear to be the issue from my standpoint. Just hoping to see if you had a solution yet.

No, it did not. Actually ours was just a hyperlink and not a file.
My internet administrator just stopped and restarted IIS and the SMTP service that day and we did not get the problem again.
