SMTP Virtual Server

Sometimes there are several connections on my SMTP Virtual server that stay connected for several minutes at a time. Why is this? and What can I do about them? They do not look like legitamate DNS addresses.

What about enabling only autheticated users to connect? You dont want to me an open relay and I hope you know how to protect against that.

I have list of servers that can relay (all of these are on my network) and I have this checked in my SMTP VS Access properties: Allow all computers which successfully authenticate to relay, regardless of the list above. Should I uncheck this box?
