I'm currently working with Exchange and will admit I am somewhat a novice with it. I noticed something I wanted to get some more information/guidance with and trust the answers I get at TT more than I would looking it up on the net. I was looking at the Default SMTP Virtual Server session and we get random names/IP's on there such as the following below:

Is it normal for this to show random connections like this or is our server setup/being used for relay? I looked in the settings of it and it does not appear to be setup to relay. I am just trying to find out if this is normal behavior. TIA!

Current connections from other servers would show up here while they're connected. If you see some strange connection, especially for long periods of time, this could be signs of an issue. You could enable connection filtering, recipient filtering and tarpitting to help cut them down.

Plan for performance, and capacity takes care of itself. Plan for capacity, and suffer poor performance.

There are online tests to check for relaying. Otherwise it would just be servers / clients delivering email to your server.
