SMTP Service keeps

Hey all,

I have a problem with my Exchange 2000 box. The SMTP service keeps failing. When it does, it takes out all the services that it depends on. I can start all the services I need without a problem, but as soon as I start the SMTP service, it comes on and then stops and I get messages in the event viewer saying that it the other services terminated unexpectedly. I have cleared the Bad Mail folder from Exchange and it is at the latest service packs. Any ideas?

What kind of virus scan software do you have on that machine? I would also check the other mail queue folders to insure that there is not a message stuck in conversion.
