Hi all,

Running Win2k3 Ent R2 32-bit with IIS installed. Server is fully patched.

As part of extending our SharePoint functionality, I installed the SMTP service on this server. It took a good 10 minutes to install which is very bizzare in itself. (2x Dual core Xeon with 2Gb ram)

However, after the install our IIS dropped down dead. Service just wouldn't start. Booted the machine and prayer - IIS came up fine.
The problem is that SMTP won't start all all. I get an event ID of 7023 with the description of: The System cannot find the path specified.

Anyone have any tips on this? I'm a bit baffled.

Cheers,

Steve.

What happened is probably the default location for the SMTP site (mail folders) have been moved, and the site properties have not been updated to reflect this. Don't know why SharePoint would cause this. If you can't update this setting you might try having the SMTP service un-installed and re-installed using SYSOCMGR.INF whereby you can define the path. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Not sure if it made much difference, but I re-enabled the default web site (even though it's running on another port other than port 80) and did as you said. Uninstalled and reinstalled - all working fine.

Cheers again,

Steve.
