Hello all,

I am still away from my office and beloved SBS system as I recover from surgery, of course checking in on OWA and VPN as need be. 50+ days running without a hiccup! Today I received this warning:
Code:
A large number of messages are pending in the e-mail server send queue.

Verify that you have Internet connectivity. If you can view Web sites normally, contact your Internet service provider (ISP) to determine if there is a problem with their e-mail server.

I logged on to the server's desktop and under Exchange System Manager, Administrative Groups, First Administrative Group, Servers, servername, Queues, I see a lot of entries like:

"Small Business SMTP Connector - bluewavedesign.com (SMTP connector)
"Small Business SMTP Connector - borerrepair.com (SMTP connector)

There are 23 of these entries each with a little round blue icon in the lower right corner of the folder icon... which I have ascertained is a "freeze" icon by trial and error.

Questions: Are these entries indicative of a problem with my Exchange Server? Do they represent email that could not be sent? Or simply a mis-typed adress? None of the addresses seem to have much to do with my business and are only a fraction of the daily email load, so I know most of it is getting through. Can they safely be deleted? How? The details say the sender is "postmaster" so I'm guessing these are bounces, but I would like to know a little more on how they got there and how to get rid of them. Thanks!!!

Tony

These are the faked reply addresses of spam that you received, and your server is trying unsuccessfully trying to send bounce messages to them. Sometimes this means that your outbound queues will have a lot of undeliverable items in them. This is pretty normal, and over time the items will disappear. I used to go and clean out queues like this, but I've come to realize that it's not a big deal to just ignore this alert, since it doesn't prevent your server from doing it's job except in highly unusual situations in which you have thousands of these emails in the outbound queue.

ShackDaddy,

Thanks as always for lightening my load. I assumed such, but it's nice to hear it from an expert.
