Set up an SMTP security server on firewall 1 (ver4.1 - solaris 2.7)to capture all mail before forwarding to exchange. Done some testing with telnet port25 on an independant machine (dialed into the internet). Connect to the checkpoint SMTP server fine, HELO command works just fine. try to send a mail using MAIL FROM: x@x.com (to check if I can spam)and I get a 501 syntax error. However if i telnet directly to the exchange box I can use the full set of SMTP commands to send a mail including the same MAIL FROM: command stated above.
Is this possibly something to do with the fact that exchange comes up as an ESMTP server and checkpoint just SMTP or am I talking crap.
Any way, all help would be greatly appreciated
