I'm running a win 2003 server in VM under windows XP using Virtual PC 2007. I'm kind of new to running VMs as in the past Ive run win 2003 on aserver machine and done my development there. The VM I was given is running other apps which I need (Sharepoint)

On my old machine I ran SMTP to run locally setting it to 127.0.0.1. When I tried this on the VM though I get the error The service cannot bind instant 1. looking this up it suggests another service is using that port, and I should I assume assign another port. I'm unclear what port I should assign it to in a VM though (can it actualy see ports). It may seem a stupid question in which cas I apologise. can anyone suggest an alternative port. The SMTP doesn't actually need to send emails its just that if its running I don't get errors in the asp.net I'm eveloping and I can see the emails in the badmail box to check

Thanks
Andy
