smtp not starting automatically on reboot

Can anyone please tell me how to set exchange up so the smtp service will start up automatically on reboot? All the other exchange services already are but the smtp one does not show up in the services list. I have to go into exchange system manager and manually start smtp if we reboot the server.

if it's set for automatic and it's not starting on it's own, there should be an event viewer message. what does it say?
