Very simple question. I'd like a program I'm using to send alert emails to me things go wrong. All it asks for is:

SMTP Host:___________
From Address:___________

Our server's name is MTISF1. So is that all I have to put in the smtp host's field and I'm guessing that the from address can be anybody who has an email account on that list.

Thanks.

Hi Mikevz,
Assuming your server MTISF1 is acting as a SMTP server or gateway then yes, you can enter it here. If you rely on an ISP to forward your outgoing mail for you then you need to enter their SMTP server name or IP address.

The from address should be the address of the m/c or application that is raising the alert (so you know where the alert has come from).
