SMTP forwarding best practices

Hello all,

I need to enable SMTP forwarding on our Exchange server so users who use POP3 to download email can then send email via SMTP. It currently works ok if users are sending to our domain, but if its a yahoo.com email address for example they get a message back saying unknown recpient.

Does anyone know of any best practices or have any tips on the best way to go about it? I don't have much of an idea.
