smtp error when client for micorsoft networks installed

Hi

I get the smtp busy wait 60 seconds and cant send any emails when client for microsoft networks is installed,
the internet connections works fine, it is 256k running on a lan, other computers on the lan send emails fine with the same settins and this machine works fine when client for micorosft netorks is uninstalled.

But we need client for microsoft networks for file and printer sharing.

the machine is a windows 98SE celeron 1.3ghz 256mb ram heaps of free space.
