Hi,

We have Exhange 2003 configured with an SMTP connector to our SMTP relay at the network edge. Does any mechanism exist to allow me to limit the maximum bandwidth that this SMTP connector will use? I appreciate I can limit message size and scedule oversize items but what I actually want to do is cap at say 128kpbs so that I can guarantee that this is the maximum this connector will use.

Appreciate any help.

Regards,

Simon

You can make use of hardware based bandwidth management gateways, and filter traffic by policy on outgoing SMTP traffic.

Some routers loaded with traffic priority can do this for you too.

Are you sure you really want to do this? So every 10MB powerpoint someone emails will take 13 minutes to transmit, and for those 13 minutes all the other email is queuing...?
