Hi everybody,

I have a win nt4 machine which is hooked directly to the Internet. it has the smtp server configured properly and when i execute asp scripts from that machine it works fine and sends the mails.

Now, I have another machine (win2k server) with IIS where i am hosting all my asp scrpits. I need this win2k machine to host my asp pages, and when the asp pages tries to send the mail (CDONTS) its SMTP server should send the request to the winnt4's SMTP server and it should mail correctly. I have the network configured properly.

Its not working. its not even giving me bad mails. i tried configuring the smarthost, but it dosent work

Can anyone give me an idea. any help is appreciated.

Thanx!
Phil Regards,
Phil

I have found, in trying to use email scripts, that after trying 50 other things, usually just setting up outlook or outlook express on the windows box takes care of the problem. I am assuming it is simply a case of not knowing what to do with the message when you hit send. As long as there is a default mail client with a default smtp account set up on it, IIS will forward the message according to the email clients settings to the specified server.

Hope that helps, and maybe someone knows a less kludgy way to set a default smtp forward without setting up either a client or server (magic? :p ).
