Smtp Authentication -Sendmail

Hello,
I need a way to Authentic Roaming Users For SMTP Relaying Using POP. I'm using ver8.12.1 sendmail. Somewhere on the net I read you can do this through the sendmail.mc file but can't find any good doc's on it.

I've looked at some of these but I'm wondering if there are other ways to authenticate users on my mail server. Or any thoughts on some these good & bad. I tried popauthd but just can't get it to run on my rh7.1 box.

I read on a website somewhere that PopAuth or pop-before-smtp can be set in the sendmail.mc file in sendmail 8.12.2 Can anyone point me to a link for information to do this.
