How can I make exchange 2003 not require the domain\username for SMTP authentication? I just want it to require username without the domain.

I can't think of a way. If you're using Active Directory, you should be able to use the User Pricipal Name (user@domain.com).

If you don't specify a domain, the system will look locally for the user account. If you're doing this for only one user, just create a local account on the system.
