SMTP AUTH help me! I wanna set SMTP security

Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone can brief me on HOW-TO setup SMTP AUTH on my Sendmail server so that if VALID users wanted to send mails other than specified domain can still send mail via my server? I completely disable open-relay ability except for myself. Please help and direct me to the right path to setup SMTP AUTH once and for all so that I can be more flexible. THANKS!
